Let Go, and Trust God

I didn’t know if my wife was going to leave me or what, all I knew was that [God] was saying to me “if you continue to trust me, it will be OK.”

I feel honored to share with you this conversation I had with my friend.  It actually started out as a test run for this podcast, but I was so inspired by it, that I wanted to share it in hopes it would help someone else.

He has been a tremendous part of my own recovery.  It was he reaching out to me at a 12 step meeting that helped me feel like I belonged.  That I was not only wanted in that group, but also that I was very in truth needed, AND that I didn't need any special skill, knowledge, level of worthiness...I just needed to show up.

Since then, my friend and I have had many many conversations during the week on the phone, and after 12 step meetings.  He now serves as a facilitator for a 12 step meeting, and continues to share his testimony of the love God has for us, and the real power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.  That only through the Grace of our Savior can we find real lasting recovery from addiction.

It’s like you’re hanging on the edge of a cliff, and God says, “Trust me let go, let go and trust me.” And you’re like, “I can’t let go because if I let go, this and this and this is going to happen!” And He keeps on saying, “No. [something better] is going to happen.” But you think you see the ground 2,000 ft down, and you don’t want to let go because you think you know the outcome of letting go. It’s difficult for me to define, it just means completely trusting God. Letting go. Let Him take over and show you what He can do.

John 14:27:

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
